Fourth Community Greenhouse to be built.
February 5, 2008
Thank you to the Community Foundations of Whistler for their generous donation allowing us to build a fourth Community Greenhouse!  Location is yet to be determined but we are expecting to open it with the other’s in late April or early May.

The focus of the Community Greenhouse Project is to promote social and environmental sustainability.  The project allows community members to grow their own organic herbs and vegetables six months of the year while engaging in a welcoming community environment.  Ten percent of the crops harvested are donated to the Whistler Food Bank.

Greg McDonnell begins as new WCSS Executive Director and Lorna Van Straaten starts as Administrator.
January 23, 2008
It is with regret that we say goodbye to Janet McDonald, long time Executive Director with WCSS. Our agency wishes Janet the best in her next adventure. The WCSS Board of Directors worked with Janet to groom Greg McDonnell for the ED position. Greg has worked in the non-profit sector for 15 years and has been with WCSS for 8 of those. He brings to the agency a strong knowledge of non-profit programming and people skills. Greg is currently taking his Masters in Education Counselling at UVIC.

Lorna has been with WCSS for a little over 2 years. She has worked as general manager of the Re-Use-It Centre during this time and her admirable work ethic has translated the Re-Use-It Centre into a very "organized machine" which has helped our agencies programs significantly. Lorna brings to the agency strong administrative and human resource knowledge. The Board of DIrectors welcomes Lorna to the leadership team.
