A Helping Hand Toward a Healthy Community

Financial assistance to enable children of financially restricted families to participate in sport programs. Cheques go directly to the sport organization. We operate under Kidsport BC and BC Sport.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation donated $8,500 for the years title sponsorship for KidSport....

Grants to individual athletes are designed to support children whose opportunities are limited by financial restrictions. The criteria for funding are based on RMOW Rec Credit fund guidelines.

Thanks to Lululemon Athletica for raising $1,000 for this program!

Grants will be allotted to a maximum of $300, for children age 5 to 18 years. Grants are for payment of participant/registration fees and are to be used only in activities which demonstrate a sustained sport experience (ie. a season of sport led by a qualified coach). Camps, travel to playoffs, championships, etc. are not eligible expenses. Preference is given to athletes who are being introduced to an organized sport. Sport activities must be affiliated with the member sport organization of Sport BC or approved meeting local community criteria and membership.

An Adult Applicant (other than the Adjudicator) must initiate the application on behalf of the child. The role of the Adjudicator is the most important step in the processing of a KidSport fund application. The Adjudicator must be either a professional in social work or family services, a school counsellor, a senior recreation administrator, a school principal or public health nurse; and should be familiar with the applicant's financial situation.

The KidSport fund prefers to issue funds to a recognized sport organization on behalf of the athlete recipient. The allocation committee will endeavour to process applications within one month's time; processing time may vary depending on the availability of funds. Financial criteria cutoffs are the same as Rec Credit; click here to view.
