KidSport

KidSport provides financial assistance to enable children of financially restricted families living or working in Whistler to participate in sport programs. Cheques go directly to the sport organization. We operate under Kidsport BC and BC Sport.

Grants to individual athletes are designed to support children whose opportunities are limited by financial restrictions. The criteria for funding are based on RMOW Recreation Credit Fund guidelines.

An adult applicant (other than the Adjudicator) must initiate the application on behalf of the child. The role of the Adjudicator is the most important step in the processing of a KidSport fund application. The Adjudicator must be either a professional in social work or family services, a school counselor, a senior recreation administrator, a school principal or public health nurse; and should be familiar with the applicant's financial situation.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation is the Title Sponsor of this program!

Children aged 5-18 are eligible for a grant. Grants of a maximum of $300 are to be used for payment of sport participation/registration fees.

Camps, equipment, travel to playoffs, fundraising, championships etc. are not eligible expenses.  Sport activities must demonstrate a sustained sport experience (a season of sport led by a qualified coach) and the sport acitivity must be affiliated with the member sport oranizations of Sport BC.

The KidSport fund prefers to issue funds to a recognized sport organization on behalf of the athlete recipient. The allocation committee will endeavour to process applications within one month's time; processing time may vary depending on the availability of funds.
