Contact Melissa Deller at helpinghand@mywcss.org, 604-902-0865 to request a match or to find out how to volunteer with the program.
The mission of Helping Hand is to provide non-professional care for those who are housebound. Services include visiting, assisting with daily activities and driving for local errands as well as medical related Vancouver trips.
Did you break your leg boarding? Get run over by a run-away car? Leave the clinic with no-one to get you food or water? Are you a senior who needs temporary help due to an injury or personal challenges? While we do not provide long-term aid, our Visiting Volunteers are locals who are happy to lend a hand to make your life easier.
Volunteers are also available to assist parents who may need some additional support when bringing a new baby home. Some of the tasks that a Helping Hand volunteer may assist with are: dinner prep, playing with older children, picking up groceries or mail, and light housekeeping (an easy task requiring 30 min. or less).
The WCSS Helping Hand Volunteer Assistance Program requires more volunteers! Contact Melissa today to see how you can get involved.
